Because I have been procrastinating decorating I'm going to rely on my good friend Pinterest

I like using pinecones for decorating because they just represent winter and can be found for free!

Some ideas on how to decorate my stairs

My favorite decoration is always the tree! We're picking up ours this weekend. Yippee!

What I Wore Thanksging Style

Happy Wednesday friends!
Let's talk about fashion *or my lack thereof*

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving...is it just me or does seem crazy that Thanksgiving wasn't even a week ago? Seems like forever

In between pie baking and turkey basting I was able to snap a few photos. This photo shoot also doubled itself to our Christmas card photos!

dress: Nordstrom Rack
leggings: borrowed from Sister Outdoorsy
scarf: hand knitted
coat: Old Navy

What Little C wore:

Call me biased, but I think he is the cutest!
3 piece outfit vest, shirt, and pants via Target :)

.:Holiday Blog Challenge:. Fave Traditions

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Today's topic is: Favorite Holiday Tradition New or Old
Hello there! I'm participating in the Holiday Challenge. This is my first post in the series as I lack imagination and a memory for some topics!
Are you visiting from the challenge? If so, thanks for stopping by! Take a moment to get to know me. I'm a girl who loves her husband, has an amazing son, wonderful family, and I blog about random topics from cooking to running

On to my favorite traditions:

#1 Driving around to see Christmas lights on Christmas Eve

#2 Opening one gift on Christmas Eve
#3 Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Morning donuts (special homemade donuts)
#4 The Nutcracker Ballet

#5 Reading Twas the night before Christmas

An old tradition... My three sisters and I all used to sleep in one bed the night before Christmas. Usually it just turned to us sleeping in one room since everyone wanted their own space and we spread out. Obviously, this tradition retired when I moved at of the house!

Well, that's all thanks for reading! If you like it around here take a moment to become a follower. It would make me smile!
Thanks to Neely and Amber for hosting!

A is for Advent Calendar

Today is the first day of my ABC Holidays Series. So, you haven't missed much! Stay tuned for more.

Advent calendars come in many shapes and sizes and contain special messages or treats!

The basic idea is that they count down 'til Christmas. I know I am so excited for Christmas and the idea of counting down sounds absolutely perfect.
I love the personal pictures on this one!

Generally the calendars coincide with the month of December and not the actual Advent calendar of western churches.
(ya know, just in case you were wondering!)

There are gazillions of awesome advent calendar ideas out in the blogosphere. I've put a few here that I really liked and some I actually think I could possible make. I found an awesome one on Little Miss Momma's blog that uses a silhouette {a silhouette I don't have}
Some awesome Advent calendars found here
Now, I just have to think of some fun activities suitable for a 17 month old. Yep, that's right Little C
(ya know, that cute guy up in the header, it's an old pic) will be 17 months in six days!! Does anyone have any ideas for me? Are you a mama or a teacher? What are you putting in your?
Advent came early this year, usually falling between November 27 and December 3, a time of expecting and waiting. In addition to an Advent calendar, I like to have an Advent wreath. You light one candle each week of Advent.
Oh, and because I gave you a Christmas picture yesterday...I thought I would throw in some old and new Christmas pictures.

ABCs for the Holidays!

Little C, red berries, and me

It's time for the holidays! Technically the "holidays" started a little before Thanksgiving, but I didn't get this up in time due to my blog fog {that's what I'm calling it}. Thus Christmas and New Year's get all my attention!

During the next little while I'm going to sprinkle 26 days of ABC magic! I've seen this everywhere and remember similar games/ideas from working in a school. But, I was inspired by this blog here when La Neshe did it for Fall! What a fabulous blog idea!

I would love if you joined me in this fun game!
I have a few ideas ready to go, but some letters are really tough.

Come back soon to see what I think up!

my new ipod touch

My fabulous guy, Hockey Husband, gave me a new ipod touch for my birthday!
*It was last Saturday*
Now, I will say I am a loyal Droid user, but I am in love with my new ipod!

I mean, I really love it! It's so slim and the screen is so sharp. Love. And, it has a camera so I can do instagram and upload to facebook and twitter. yeah! Also, it has facetime so I can video chat and I also downloaded tango.
oh, and did I mention the cute cases I get to choose from!? there are seriously a gazillion.

tree case found here
not sure if an Erin Condren case would fit since they're meant for the iphone, but they sure are cute!

loving this burton case

then there is always the Christmas route...but that will be pretty short lived, hmm.

And, I can finally get apps during free app friday, because usually they don't apply to the droid.

So, help me out bloggy friends! What case should I get or do you know of any awesome apps you recommend?

New blog layout!

I've done it again...changed my blog design! This time for a classic Christmas look using the same winter picture of Little C that I used last year.

I cannot contain my excitement for Christmas this year! How fitting that Thanksgiving comes the day before the one month marker! That's right folks, only one short month until Christmas.
I'm excited to decorate my house, to put up our tree, to get a visit from good 'ole St. Nick, celebrating the season through Little C's eyes! We just returned from our wonderful Thanksgiving vacation so look for pictures soon. Also, after some rest I can take out all my Christmas decorations!

I’m THANKful For Thanksgiving!

don't you just love our beautiful table?

Manic Mother

Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours!

This year I give thanks for my husband and son, our extended families combined that raised us to be the people we are, our home, good food and a wonderful harvest, all my friends that are dear to my heart.

From the 1600s to now celebrating a harvest of amazing food is a day I love to rally around.

the turkey getting basted! Yum!
Its Ok Thursdays

It's okay that... sometimes holidays can be stressful when you have to travel between houses and leave early or arrive late. I don't do that, it's not really by choice, our two families live 1500 miles apart. Sometimes I am really grateful that we can just celebrate at one house and enjoy the whole day, but the down side is you don't see an entire side of the family for a holiday and that can be hard. Usually that's only a fleeting thought and I really enjoy the company that is present.

time for pie baking!

My favorite part of Thanksgiving, the annual Monopoly Marathon.
With root beer floats and pie all night, of course!

I’m THANKful For The Special People In My Life! {A Link-up}

Manic Mother

Topic of the day... THANKful for the special people in your life.

Thanksgiving is coming in two days!
Family, Food, Fun!
A holiday to celebrate being thankful, giving thanks, and feeling grateful. This post is about the special people in my life. I feel very blessed to be surrounded by lots of amazing people.
There are above all else two very special people.
Hockey Husband and our Little C.

I am me because of them. My husband is the most extraordinary man I know. He is an amazing father, cook, provider, and an overall well-rounded person. He is gracious and kind and I learn so much from him. Together we created the other person in my life who I cannot live without. Our son, Little C.
I believe one of the best things a mom can do for her children is love their father. I strive to be the best wife and mother to these two very special people.

These are my two people. My family. I am THANKful for them more than anything.
